Esca Vitae

Esca Vitae was good, but probably our least favorite spot. Not because the restaurant was awful, but it's really a stop-n-go type place, not somewhere you make a reservation and have a group over 2.

We arrived and I was asked, "Who did you make your reservation with?" I had to stop and think because I've never actually gotten the name of the person making my reservation. I never thought the roles would be reversed like that. How selfish of me. After sorting that out they began moving tables together to accommodate our group---the smallest group we've had, BTW.

We sit down and there's confusion on whether or not we order at the register or stay seated. Keep in mind, we made a reservation. Typically with reservations it's expected that once you're seated, you don't get back up to put effort into your order. Anyhow, we all decided to go to the register after many, many minutes of confusion. Once to the register, a couple of gals order and then the rest of us were told to go ahead and have a seat because someone will be with us. Okay cool. But like, when? We love Brunch Club, but like, this isn't an all day affair. We proceed to sit. Multiple menu items were no longer available for the day...which is confusing because it was only 11:00 am. Was there a breakfast crowd who ate all the food? Whatever. We ordered, received our food and...meh. I originally ordered a machiato, but the barista informed me that all coffee drinks are the same as lattes. Not in the mood to argue, I smiled and drank my drank. Drank was tasty, BTW.

We did meet a sweet couple who were engaging and added a flair of adorableness to Esca Vitae. They live in Edmond, so I'm still curious what brought them to Midtown and more specifically, Esca Vitae.

If you're out and about running errands, stop here for sure. If you're wanting the full service you receive at sit-down restaurants, this isn't your place.
