Barrios Fine Mexican Dishes

This was by far the EASIEST reservation to make. Most online reservations don't allow you to make a reservation for a party of 10, but I was able to with Barrios! This shouldn't be as big of a stress relief as I'm making it sound, but it really is. It means I don't have to make a phone call, listen to elevator music, leave a voicemail that doesn't get returned and harass the restaurant until they finally answer and get suckered into a party of 10.

The only issue with this visit was that they don't actually open until 11:00. I'm a super early bird and got there, say it with me...super early. They allowed us to sit in the waiting area until the clock striked 11:00. This really isn't even an issue, I was just hangry at the time and had envisioned getting a head start on an app.

The service was prompt, personable, and funny. The majority of the table ordered coffee and we all agreed it was strong and delicious...

I'm sorry, but the majority of my thoughts end with a vision of Michael Scott and it's hard not to include it in all areas of communication...including this blog.

The food was so tasty! The chips...praise those chips. They clearly make them in house because they are unlike any chips I've ever met at any restaurant. You get complimentary chips with two types of salsas...I thought I'd figure out which one I like best, but that is not what happened. Guess I'll have to go back. Darn. I ordered the Roasted Chicken Tamale with Anaheim Sauce and a side of Brussel Sprouts. I've never had chicken tamales, but these are the only tamales I ever want to consume again in my life.

A Brunch Club member did order the Mini Sopapillas with Spicy Mexican Chocolate and these weren't a hit, although I can't stand behind that opinion because I really liked them. The chocolate didn't hit any of us as being spicy, but it definitely had an unusual taste, kind of like a liquor chocolate. I could've eaten it all, but....well, now that I think about it, I probably should have.

I got my tamale meal, a side, coffee, and great service for nearly $15.00. Cheers to that number! I typically get an alcoholic beverage (or 2) and end up in the $40+ range. I was happily surprised with my ticket.

The seating was perfect for our party and the first time we've been sat at a big round table. I looked around and the seating was pretty perfect for the entire restaurant. Nobody was incredibly close to their neighbors and the staff wasn't having to squeeze between tables to get to their guests. The lighting is ideal, as it's pretty much all natural from the massive garage door windows throughout the restaurant. We didn't visit the patio, but we'll definitely be giving Barrios a return visit when the weather gets warm.
