Brunch No. 19

Our 19th brunch was spent at Rococo at Northpark Mall.
Rococo is decorated very festive for the holidays, so it was the perfect spot for a December brunch. For the most part it was wonderful. There were a couple of quirks that stand out, you know, after 19 brunches you start recognizing things more.
For starters, a few people ordered a dish that contained gravy. Our server returned to the table and said they don't make gravy on Saturdays. Is this part of a religion I don't know about? Because gravy is most definitely made any day that ends in y. Nobody fussed, they just changed their order---still not ideal and honestly, gravy takes like 5 seconds to make, so not sure what the hold up was.
At one point someone questioned the Country Breakfast and the server referred to it as an "upscale iHop dish." I'm sorry, I do love me some iHop, but just lets not throw that terminology around when we're paying twice as much.
Towards the end of brunch we all paid our tickets, some with cash. Our server returned to the table and said "Hey, whoever had the $17 ticket and gave $25...are you wanting change?" Listen, I've never been a server, but I'm 110% sure this is a service industry no-no. JUST BRING THE CHANGE. STOP MAKING THIS AWKWARD.
I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was..meh. To be fair, I'm partial to Waffle Champion's C&W, so basically everywhere else is at an immediate disadvantage.
Our table shared carafes of poinsettias (mimosas with cranberry juice) and these were very tasty and the amount per person was favorable.
The food really wasn't bad, but again, after 19 brunches, it takes a something special for food to really stand out.
The ambiance was great in the restaurant, so if you're wanting to do a festive happy hour, I'd for sure suggest visiting Rococo.
